Antibiotics for Sinus Infection Symptoms

If you have ever had a sinus infection, you know how miserable sinus infection symptoms can be.

Antibiotics are the most subscribed medication given by doctors to those who have a sinus infection.

But, are antibiotics the best way to find sinus infections, or should you let your body fight the infection naturally?

There's no doubt antibiotics normally do help get rid of a sinus infections, but be careful that you don't jump on antibiotics too quickly instead of letting your body fight off the infection.

Because I relied too heavily on antibiotics for sinus infections, the antibiotic that worked well for me at first, became less effective over time.

Over time bacteria can develop a resistance to antibiotics and more powerful doses of antibiotics are required to kill the bacteria.  This is known as bacterial resistance.

Antibiotic resistance is becoming a widespread problem.  The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that it is "one of the world's most pressing public health problems."

Bacteria are becoming increasingly resistant to antibiotics that have worked well in the past.

I came to the realization that I was asking for antibiotics too soon, without giving my body a chance to fight the infections naturally.

Our bodies were made to fight most infections naturally.  The human race survived for thousands of years before the invention of antibiotics.  I'm sure my ancestors experienced sinus infections and had no choice but to fight them naturally.

So I decided to start fighting my sinus infections without antibiotics by taking care of myself and letting my body take care of it.

There may be times when antibiotics are the best way for you to fight your sinus infection.  If you have a severe sinus infection and the sinus infection symptoms have been keeping you down for weeks - go to your doctor and get some antibiotics!

I'm just encouraging you to show some restraint and give your body some time to fight off the infection.  You may just find that by using common sense, and taking care of yourself will be the best medicine you can find to cure your sinus infections.

I'm now a firm believer that it's better to let your body fight the sinus infection naturally, giving your body time to do it's job before going to the doctor to get antibiotics.

i think this is good in theory but not in practice... if our ancestors would have had access to pain saving medications, they would have taken them. i recently visited a doctor with a similar point of view and so i tried it her way for a few agony-ridden days. i gave in and filled the px and after 12 hours and 2 antibiotic pills, i'm already feeling better. it is dangerous to tell people to let an infection go untreated especially if one is not aware of their medical history.
listening to your body is extremely important and i firmly believe that when one comes down with an ailment, your body is begging you to slow down, rest, eat well and sleep lots, BUT there is no need to be a martyr.
